Summer 2005, Swiss countryside. A psychopath tortures cows, horses and pets. Police, psychiatrists and media underline the sexual background of the heinous actions and insist: he will soon do that to women, children. After a few months, a smart police chief found the truth: all animals had died of natural causes. The psychopath was just a phantom. I realised in 2008 with the director Harry Häner a reportage tracking back the facts and the protagonists of an awesome media hoax. Police refused to come on camera, but wrote me: our investigations are still going on. Probably the most funny story I have ever done and a wonderful case to learn how you cannot believe the media. Estate 2005. Un’indagine di polizia tiene la Svizzera col fiato sospeso. Caccia aperta ad un maniaco che sevizia sessualmente mucche e pecore, gatti e cavalli. La vicenda suscita emozione nella popolazione e i media se ne occupano diffusamente. Nel settembre 2005 la polizia scientifica smonta il “teorema del mostro”, riconducendo gli episodi a cause naturali. Il seviziatore in serie era un fantasma collettivo. Tre anni dopo, siamo tornati sul luogo del delitto per capire come si é potuto arrivare – polizia, esperti, media – a dare vita ad una bufala tanto.. bestiale.
